Watt Fences are one of the largest suppliers to Racecourse in Great Britain and Ireland which Bill Watt started when he left the army in 1993 when he saw an opportunity to build fences for racehorse trainers to use to practice their horses jumping at home. By 2000 the business had built up significantly for Watt Fences to become a limited company and the company moved premises to its current base at Easby. Over the years the range of products has built up and Watt Fences now can offer a full range of Racecourse products including hurdles, steeplchase fences, wings and PVC products. In 2008 whilst still expanding and running Watt Fences , Bill began to diversify with some new products after spotting the potential of the PVC Running Rail material which he thought could be used in other products, initially he started producing picket fence and post and rail fencing. To start with most of the sales of his new products were to racecourses but with time and development sales have branched out into other area including residential, sports grounds, farmers, cricket clubs, riding schools, golf clubs and show grounds. With the success of the additional products was set up in 2015, and they now can supply 5 PVC fencing products; permanent picket, portable picket, post and rail, portable crowd barrier/post and rail and flexible stud rail.
The main advantage of PVC products is that you can have the look of wood, combined with the durability and long life of vinyl in one terrific fence product. Portable picket fencing can be used as a general barrier to enclose hospitality/corporate areas and also for temporary walkways. If used in a public place this enables the members of the public to be contained safety within their designated areas. Whilst some customers require fencing to be temporary so it can be moved and reused, others require fencing to be permanent for which Permanent Picket Fencing can be supplied. They can also modify and manufacture to customers size requirements. The post and rail systems are available in 2, 3 or 4 rail and it comes in 8ft sections. The rails are double ribbed for additional strength and pre notched for easy installation. They also stock a wide range of gates. This fencing has been used for driveways at a number of golf and cricket clubs and the fencing is also available in versatile portable sections. This product has a number of roles including to enclose hospitality/ corporate areas, to fence grass areas and for use as temporary walkways. They are available in 2 and 3 rail and come in 6ft sections which are easy to move and install, are maintenance free and sections can be easily connected.
Currently one of the most popular products is the use of permanent picket fence at Cricket Clubs. With the cricket season soon to under way a number of clubs have been doing a number of seasonal repairs and upgrades has supplied a number of cricket clubs. Depending on budget permanent picket fence can be used to fence small areas right up to fencing the whole boundary of a cricket pitch. The use of picket fencing has a number of advantages for a cricket club; it is extremely low maintenance, it does not absorb moisture so will not blister, peel, corrode or rot, it is 5 times stronger and 4 times more elastic than wood and it eliminates the costly effect of painting therefore saving money year after year. Cricket clubs are finding it is a great investment as not only does it look very smart they are getting a product that will last for many years if not a lifetime. The picket fence is easy to install and can be manufactured to customers size requirements. Latest install was at Highfield Cricket Ground where the customer required the fence to be cut down to 2ft and installed along a wall. This was achieved by making steel inserts to attach to the wall by using PVC coated steel bracketed bases. The picket fence can also be adapted to fit around any area with the use of corner posts and picket gates are available to.
